Exploring the Outdoors!
BSLF Nature Learning Site
Big Steps Little Feet has expanded to include nature based learning! BSLF recently purchased an 11 acre piece of property and have created designated learning spaces for your child. The children will be able to learn all about nature and animals. They will feed and care for different types of animals, enjoy creative play in the mud kitchen, build in the nature building area, enjoy picnic lunches, and much more.
Check out the Photo Plans below as we continue to expand the BSLF Nature Learning Site!

Child's Nature Day

When your children are visiting the BSLF Nature Site they will participate in a morning circle time. A daily schedule will be shared with each class including the daily lesson, what they will be learning, safety reminders, and a picnic lunch. Nature Instructor: Ms. Angel
Hello, my name is Ms. Angel!
My child development experience includes running my own child care program and teaching various other child care programs. I also have Head Start experience at the State and Federal level that focuses on Kindergarten Readiness. During my various roles with children, I have found that nature and play are great vehicles to use to transport knowledge. There are so many ways to incorporate learning activities; as we garden, care for animals, build forts, and make mud pies. The learning opportunities are endless.
I am looking forward to being your child’s instructor at the BSLF Nature Learning Site.
See you outside soon!

Explore The Nature Site
The designated areas listed below have been created for children to explore and learn from during each visit.
Gathering Space: This is our story circle space and group meeting place as well as an area for quiet reflection and reading.
Open Field: This area is fenced in and is an open space for soccer or kickball as well as open running games.
Mud Kitchen: This is a space for children to collect natural items (leaves, seeds, dirt) and mix them all up! Creating their own imaginative recipes is encouraged as each child learns through play.
Nature Building Area: This area will have small branches, tree trunk pieces, and “loose parts” for creative building and play.
Hiking Trails: Trails have been prepared to encourage exploration through the fields and forest spaces.
Picnic Areas: Picnic lunches are provided and a lunch time routine is followed including a student led prayer, family style eating, and cleanup time.
Animal Petting Areas: These fenced spaces allow the children to help feed, pet, and care for the goats, ducks, and chickens.
Hand Washing Stations are available nearby to ensure hands are clean before eating lunch and after petting animals.
