Courageous Cubs

A Preschool Three's Classroom

Our Courageous Cubs program has 10 children ranging from approximately 36 months to approximately 48 months old. We have one consistent and nurturing teacher caring for our preschool children daily.

Program Details

During their time in the Courageous Cubs classroom, each child is given the opportunity to learn in a preschool rich environment. This experience consists of a morning circle time with calendar and our weekly theme, learning area activities centered around art, math, and science skills with a more pronounced focus on Zoophonics. Children will now be continuing to grow their handwriting skills through Handwriting Without Tears, supporting each child in aiming for Kindergarten Readiness. Meet our Courageous Cubs Teacher!

Ms. Kathy: Lead Teacher

My name is Kathleen Gillette-Johnston. I worked at Big Steps previously from August of 2015 to July of 2016 as a Lead Teacher. As I stepped away from working to complete my education, I missed Big Steps for the wonderful Christian childcare it provides.  but most of all, I missed the children. I am glad to return to work here at Big Steps. I was married in December of 2016, to my husband, Tom. Outside of Big Steps, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our families. I enjoy taking walks, photography, and attending plays at local theaters.
