Responsible Raccoons

A Preschool Four's Classroom

Our Responsible Raccoons program has 18 children ranging from approximately 48 months to approximately 60 months old. We have two consistent and nurturing teachers caring for our preschool children daily.

Program Details

As their final class before their continued education to Kindergarten, each child is given the opportunity to learn in a preschool rich environment. This experience consists of a morning circle time with calendar and our weekly theme, learning area activities centered around art, more challenging math and science skills, with an emphasis on lowercase letters through Zoophonics and Handwriting Without Tears. Midway through the year after a full letter review, the class will begin working with word families to begin their easy reading skills. Throughout the year, we continue to improve self-help skills in our preparation for Kindergarten Readiness. Our Raccoons classroom is taking one nap a day, playing outdoors twice a day, and enjoying our nutritional menu.

Meet our Responsible Raccoons Teacher:

Ms. Lasaundra: Lead Teacher

My name is Mrs. Lasaundra Henderson and I look forward to being your child’s teacher. I am excited to join the Preschool team in the Raccoons Classroom here at BSLF.

I have been married to my husband, Ardell, for 20 years and we have two amazing sons, T.J. (16) and Camden (11). I lived in Korea for two years where I taught English as a second language. I have also worked in Fort Drum, NY, as a Department of Defense Pre-K/Kindergarten teacher, in St. Louis teaching at the Children’s Hospital Child Development Center, and in Ft. Leavenworth, KS as a Pre-K teacher & Assistant Director.

In my spare time, I love spending time with my family, traveling, singing, watching my boys play sports, movies, and shopping. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your child’s bright future!
